Old Spice and Everything Nice




Men's body wash and hygiene products have never been exiting and for the most part they have really never talked about. In most households you would follow whatever your dad was using and that was it you never thought about it twice. That is until Old spice came along and introduced their new commercials and their new products back in 2010.

On February 7th 2010 Old Spice released a commercial that most people could say saved their entire company form ruins. The video titled "The Man Your Man Could Smell Like" (See link below) was the first of its kind, attention grabbing, comical and intriguing from the get go. After the release of the video Old Spice Sales went up by 55% and by July of that year sales had risen by 107%, a total success.



Why was this game changing?
In most people's eyes Old Spice was something your grandpa used along with every other older gentleman. Young people did not use their products for these reasons, soon after the release of this commercial everyone was using Old Spice products.
 

The commercial became a staple to Old Spice marketing because to this day they still produce videos just like this one. These videos keep the watchers encaged thought the video and as the videos started to evolve and gain more traction, Old Spice reached out to its fans and consumers for help. The consumers and fans would participate in surveys or in the actual craft of the commercials. Another huge advantage that Old SPice was that it would broadcast their videos/commercials on virtually any platform they could get their hands on. This helped to target niche audiences that their competitors were passing up on.
